How reprehensible is this:

NEW YORK TIMES
Reportedly, former Major League Baseball player and “steroid expert” Jose Canseco offered to keep Detroit Tigers outfielder Maglio Ordonez about a new book Canseco is putting together.

Reports say Canseco offered to keep Maglio’s name out of the book if he would put up a monetary investment into Canseco’s movie project.

Ordonez contacted team officials about the “offer” who then went to Baseball who then contacted the FBI (with obvious charges of extortion). However, Ordonez didn’t file a formal complaint, and therefore the FBI did not open a formal investigation. Ordonez is quoted as saying, “I don’t want any problems. He is probably desperate for money. I don’t understand why he’s trying to put people down.”
