if you’re an avid LOST watcher, you should have most definitely picked up on the writers’ and producers’ flair for “shout-outs” to history. Whether it’s mythology, authors, scientists, athletes, etc, you can be sure there are references on the show.
One of the latest references comes in the form of Horace Godspeed, a former Dharma Initiative member who was one of the ones gassed on the island. Locke, in a dream, finds Horace clearing an area of trees for “a nice little getaway for him and his wife” and is currently cutting one down with an axe. The tree falls, the camera shifts, turns back and suddenly the fallen tree is back standing. Not only does the tree return, but Horace re-introduces himself to Locke. This happens multiple times.
In Greek mythology, Sisyphus (Σίσυφος) (IPA: /ˈsɪsɨfəs/), was a king punished in Tartarus by being cursed to roll a huge boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll down again, and to repeat this throughout eternity.
Theories abound and are exploding even more this season than have been through the entire time leading up to now.
All in all, I think this is an unbelievable show … I just want to see it to the end. Some of us were joking around about Simeon who wouldn’t die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ … we don’t want to die before we see the end of LOST 🙂
are you LOST?
