Why not? Seems as long as you’re breathing you’re invited. Does anyone else find it a bit asinine that 6-6 teams get to participate in post-season bowls? Just add this to the list of what’s wrong with college football now.
I love college football, but this is just asinine! Not only to .500 teams get to keep playing like it matters, we now have the following as some of the bowl games:
- magicJack St. Petersburg Bowl
- R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
- San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl
- Papajohns.com Bowl
- Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl
- Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl
- Brut Sun Bowl
- Konica Minolta Gator Bowl
I realize these are paying sponsors, and in today’s world if you can get a sponsorship (a.k.a. someone else to pay for it), then have at it, but seriously? I wouldn’t be so jaded about it if the bowl committees took a page from the Rose Bowl committee and kept the legacy of their bowl name …

Just turn around those bowl names and they don’t sound so corny
